The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is a fictional, but realistically portrayed, Youtube vlog series that follows the life of Elizabeth Bennet in a modern context.

I watched the series back in 2012 when it first began and absolutely loved it. But was I aware of its transmedia nature? Not at all.

I’d had no idea that there was more to explore in the world of Lizzie Bennet; books and tweets and a tumblr to boot, all with something new to add to the world created by the vlogs. Something I wish I could tell my 15 year old self, who promptly filled with despair and a longing for more when the show ended in 2013.

This is the power of a transmedia project; being able to provide extra content to its fanbase, and thus extort more money as they cross various technological and payment thresholds to continue their involvement in the story.
